As above, so below; as below, so above.
The waters of our planet are nearly a perfect symbol for our spiritual interconnectedness. The oceans of our planet, while we give them separate names to distinguish the regions where they predominate, are not truly separate from each other. The Caribbean is not disconnected from the Atlantic, nor is the Indian separate from the Pacific. All the oceans tie together at some point.
When we look at a picture, map or globe of
our Earth, we inevitably see that all are really just parts of
one body of water.
Likewise, our rivers and streams flow in all parts of the world, yet each flows relentlessly toward an ocean. The smallest of creeks flows into larger and even larger rivers which lead to the ocean. Every river and stream is thus connected to every other by virtue of their common connectedness to an ocean.
A drop of water removed from the ocean is still water, and while it can be individualized as a single drop, it retains its true identity as a part of a greater whole to which it will someday return.
Water can be frozen and be held back from the oceans for a time, but eventually all ice melts back to water and journeys back to its true source.
Water can turn into a vapor and soar overhead as clouds, but these too will change back to a liquid state and seek out a path homeward.
The ocean is like the Mind of God - vast and pervasive. The oceans are comprised of uncountable numbers of individualized drops of water, yet each an undeniable part of the whole.
All the rivers and their tributaries are like the many cultures and religions. Differences and separateness are only illusions or distortions of the truth due only limited perspectives of the whole.
