When I was growing up, there were times when important decisions had to be made - like what to do next with my buddies. Do we go for a hike or play tag or ride our bikes to the market for bubble gum and candy? Being democratic in our relationship, we would usually vote on the matter. On some occasions, I would attempt to invoke three votes to sway the decision in my favor. I would attest that all three of me - Me, Myself & I - were in accordance with my desire and thus accounted three votes instead of just one. I don't recall ever getting away with it, but it points to the notion that even as a child I perceived that I had multiple aspects of self.
Psychologists and theologians have theorized and argued for many decades about the multiple aspects of the human mind but to my knowledge, no concise, clear and reasonable description has ever been made. Their attempts to explain human behavior and potential have all fallen short for one reason - their basic premise about what a human being is has been in error. The psychologists carry the burden of belief that humans evolved from the primordial ooze just like all the other species on the planet. They can't prove the existence of a higher intelligence guiding the creative process (nor can they explain the thousands of documented phenomena which refuse to fit into their explanatory model) so they stand by the notion of random selection. Thus they delve into the human psyche as if it were an extension of the minds of lower animals.
Western theologists have based their explanation of human existence upon the premise of an all-powerful up-there, out-there being who single-handedly create all aspects of the universe including man. Like the scientists, they get very quiet (or very noisy) when asked to account for supernormal phenomena based on their dogma. They have used spiritual dogma as a means to gain control over the masses for the enrichment and empowerment of their religions. The Eastern philosophies also fall short of the mark in explaining humanness because they too have lost the essentials of their spiritual beliefs.
Metaphysical science is not bound by the self-imposed constraints of the other disciplines and is therefore able to construct models which not only account for natural law, but also can extend beyond the physical into the realms of the formless. Metaphysics is very young in its current social acceptance level, yet its roots are far, far older than any mainstream Western or Eastern philosophy. It is ancient wisdom and it is found at he very core of every society, though often badly misinterpreted and distorted. Metaphysics comes from meta, meaning beyond and physics referring to the behaviors of the physical realm. Thus metaphysics explores beyond the material world, finding our connection with the realms of the formless.
Back to Me, Myself and I. The Me in this sequence represents the conscious personality, the aspect of self that begins to emerge at about age three and consists of genetic traits passed from parental lineage and supplemented by personal experiences and knowledge gained. For the vast majority of people, this consciousness is attuned to the identity of the body it is currently associated with. Information and memories that it accumulates are stored in the brain as chemical messages and exist only as long as the body is alive. The body though, exists on upon multiple levels of electromagnetic frequency, only the lowest level being composed of what we term as physical matter. The chemical associations recorded in the physical brain also become encoded in the frequency bands associated with every atom of the body, thus lifetime memories are carried beyond death until the lower frequencies are erased prior to reincarnation. That's why you can't remember your previous lives, yet can access that information through past life regression under hypnosis, drawing from the higher dimensions of the subconscious mind.
The Myself then, corresponds to the subconscious mind. This mind resides primarily in what is sometimes called the reptilian brain, which sits at the base of the scull and wraps around the brain stem. Myself is a multi-dimensional mind which never sleeps and handles all the automatic functions of the body - heartbeat, digestion, temperature control, etc. The subconscious mind exists in multiple levels, each level corresponding to a different frequency of vibration. At the higher levels are the vastly intelligent aspects of ourselves which have gleaned information form every incarnation we have ever had and become our guides, our "Higher Selves". They can be the source of our intuition, our inspiration, and also our dreams and our nightmares. The myself will not interfere with the day-to-day choices of our lives, totally giving us free will without judgement to learn about ourselves. This aspect of us can be accessed through meditation and through hypnosis.
The I is the God-Self. It is the eternal consciousness of the individual, the I AM. It is the aspect that views the progress of the current life. It is the so-called conscience of the individual. It is not only the observer, it is the explorer, the leader of the journey. When you say " I am going to change my mind" you speak from the authority of the I. The Me could not command itself to be silent, as in meditation to allow the communications from your subconscious mind. Your Me, the social-conscious/body-conscious mind could not conceive of such a concept no more that a canary or a carrot could. The I, the God-self is the aspect which makes humans different from all other species on the planet. (For you ET enthusiasts, be aware that Earth is not the only planet where the I consciousness is evolving, Just as a minnow and a shark are both fish, don't expect that other "humans" will look or behave anything like us. That is a concept which belongs to the body-conscious or Me mind.)
A major source of confusion arises however, in that the majority of people around the world connect their I to their Me. They have been told and believe that all they are is what they see in the mirror. Since they believe this, their God-self, the I makes it so for them. As they believe so they are. With the mass of consciousness supporting this erroneous concept moment to moment, it is very difficult indeed to break oneself from this consciousness. Yet that is precisely what we each must do if we are to evolve ourselves into a higher level of beingness. When Jesus stated "The Father and I are one", he was attesting to the fact that he had overcome the inertia of social consciousness and had changed his association of his I to his Myself. This gave him access to all the knowledge and power inherent in the subconscious mind, no longer limited by the Me mind. He also stated that "All these things I do, you can do also and more", telling us that his achievements were extraordinary only to Me consciousness, but accessible to everyone.
The first step in following this path is knowledge. For millennia, we have been told that we are the dust of the Earth, not the creators of it. Those that would keep up in our Me consciousness so that we could be controlled and enslaved have been very successful. Their disadvantage however, is that they too associate their selves to Me consciousness. The Pope, the worlds tyrants and international bankers have all swallowed the same poison pill that has been fed to us for ages. With ancient wisdom now bubbling back to the surface of consciousness, we can each of us choose to change our belief structures and move forward on the path of conscious spiritual evolution.
